Major National Conference
Our NHS and Social Care in Crisis – FIGHTING BACK TO WIN
Saturday November 4, 11.00-4.00
Hammersmith Town Hall, London W6 9LE
On March 4 this year, Health Campaigns Together, working with Peoples Assembly and other allies, organised the biggest-ever national demo on the NHS.
Now we want the biggest-ever national campaigners’ conference to broaden, deepen and strengthen campaigning all over the country. We have a weak and wobbly government attacking our NHS: so let’s push them and make them wobble or fall over!
* End the freeze on NHS spending * Scrap the cap on NHS pay * No cuts or cash-driven closures
* No privatisation * For a publicly funded and publicly provided NHS and social care
* End the competitive market in health care
We have SPEAKERS from trade unions, local government and campaigners. Those already agreed include SARA GORTON, Head of Health, UNISON; Dr Chaand Nagpaul (Chair, BMA Council); SARAH COOK (Unite the Union), two council leaders who have refused to comply with their STP and are fighting threats to their local hospitals - Cllr STEVE COWAN (Hammermsith & Fulham) and Cllr JULIAN BELL (Ealing) - and Editor of Health Campaigns Together newspaper JOHN LISTER.
We also have internationally acclaimed film director KEN LOACH and a distinguished list of workshop speakers, including DOT GIBSON of the National Pensioners Convention, and CAROLINE MOLLOY of the Our NHS/Open Democracy website.
The majority of time is ringfenced for workshops, collaboration and discussion.
More details of speakers and workshops still being finalised, and will be publicised as they are agreed at www.healthcampaignstogether.
Lunch provided for pre-booked delegates.
PLEASE NOTE: We will contribute towards costs of long distance public transport from North, Devon and Cornwall, and urge trade union branches and other bodies that can do so to donate towards this.
Early bird registration opened Monday August 14: CLOSES Weds November 1. Check out www.healthcampaignstogether.com for online booking.
BOOK NOW and save!
- Early bird delegate fee: £7.50 (pre-booked). £10 late notice bookings and on the door
- Concession rate (pensioners, low-waged and claimants): £5 pre-booked, £7 late notice and on the door.
Affiliates please note: This is a working conference on campaigning that is also open to non-affiliates, and so it will not have sufficient time or any authority to make policy or decide on submitted motions.
Organisations not yet affiliated or subscribing to the paper are encouraged to do so: our affiliation base is growing, and our aim is to reach every area of England.
We have deliberately kept our ticket costs low, but we would welcome donations towards the costs of the conference and the subsidy of travel from more distant areas, especially from trade union branches, regions and national bodies. All payments can be made online via http://www.healthcampaignstogether.com/support.php.
With best wishes
