Bus Service Review Underway

Labour County Councillors Richard Udall and Alan Amos have today met with County Transport Cabinet Member Cllr John Smith and his officers.  They raised concerns at the removal of key bus service provision in Worcester during the evenings Monday to Thursday, in particular they raised their concerns regarding nurses and other hospital workers being able to get safely home from their late shifts from the Worcestershire Royal Hospital, also other people trying to get safely home from the city centre to the city estates such as Dines Green and Warndon and Gorse Hill.

After a long discussion they have secured a review of current provision.  The outcome of the review will be known early in the New Year.

Cllr Richard Udall said "I was impressed in the way that Cllr Smith listened to our concerns.  The changes to bus services in Worcester have had a real impact on a lot of people; individuals are suffering and cannot safely get home.  Any review which hopefully will re-establish a service, even at minimal levels, would be welcome".
Cllr Alan Amos added "The people I represent have been disadvantaged by these changes, they need me to speak on their behalf to seek a new provision to secure for them safe routes to work and home, many people work shifts, we cannot ignore their needs.  Hopefully, some improvement will come out of this review for Warndon and Gorse Hill".

Cllr's Udall and Amos will be meeting with John Smith and Officers again in the New Year and hope to work with them to secure new night time bus services for the people in Worcester who need them the most.
