Worcester Labour Party is proud to announce the shortlisted contenders for the vacant position of Prospective Parliamentary Candidate. The contenders are:

·   Carol Dean
·   Trudie McGuinness
·   Joy Squires
·   Tracy Ann Wood

Chair of Worcester Labour, Chris Winwood, said “This has been a very exciting process. The time between now and the Hustings meeting will be unique, as our contenders each set out to prove how they can win Worcester for Labour”

The Party received applications from all across the country, from contenders with political experience at many different levels, and contenders with a variety of personal backgrounds. The shortlist was made following a day of rigorous interviews organised by a selection panel of local members and councillors.

Chris Winwood added “Our committee felt that these four women all have it in them to be a Member of Parliament. They each have a clear vision of what needs to be done to improve the lives of the people of Worcester, in the face of the misery spread by the Tory-led government”.
The Tory majority in Worcester is below 3,000 and, with Worcester more marginal than ever before, the city is sure to be a key battleground in the next general election. By selecting their Prospective Parliamentary Candidate several years before the election, Worcester Labour is confident of returning a Labour MP for the city. Worcester is number 48 on the list of Labour targets.

Worcester Labour’s members will select the Prospective Parliamentary Candidate fro, this shortlist at a Hustings meeting on 19th November.
