My name is Tom Collins and I am the new Labour candidate for the City Council in the Rainbow Hill ward. I am new to politics – I am an engineer by training (I work at Worcester Bosch) and a dad. For a few years I have campaigned on fair trade and modern slavery, but have increasingly felt that we need a fresh approach to politics. I found myself desperate to see people of leadership and compassion in politics. I came to realise that the only way things will change is if normal people like me and you step up and get involved. So here I am.
I believe that we could be real agents of change in our area. People trust what (and who!) they know, and it is our job to make sure they have a Labour party that they know to represent them and show leadership. The election in May is a chance for us to show our neighbourhoods that they have a voice, and a chance to have a place on the City Council being that voice. There’s plenty to do, but it’s not overwhelming; from facebook to face-to-face, delivering and discussing, there’s a role for each of us, and we are our best when we work together. So I’d like to invite you to a social “kick-off” for our Rainbow Hill campaign at 7:30 next Tuesday 30th January at the New Chequers on Astwood Road, it’ll be a few drinks and a chance to talk and get to know each other, to plan and get inspired about what we could do in our neighbourhoods. I really hope you can be there, but please let me know either way so I can keep you in the loop and make it easy for you to get involved.
I look forward to seeing / meeting you,
