The Worcester Lecture: ‘How can we get truth back to the centre of public debate?’  By Rt Hon Charles Clarke, British Labour Party politician and former Home Secretary The Worcester Lectures, hosted by the University of Worcester and Worcester Cathedral, are an annual contribution to the rich cultural heritage of Worcester, celebrating and further strengthening the links between the two institutions. As a common theme, the lectures aim to explore the important area of morality in public life. Charles Clarke is a British Labour Party politician and former Home Secretary. He became Member of Parliament for Norwich South in 1997, and was appointed Junior Education Minister in 1998. In the same year, he became a member of the Treasury Select Committee and Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for School Standards. In 1999 he was appointed Minister of State at the Home Office, with particular responsibility for the police.
